What are the minimum requirements for appointment as an agency owner?

  • Property & Casualty, Life &Health licensed
  • Series 6 & 63 or equivalent preferred or ability to obtain
  • Satisfactory results of background check

A business plan and proven track record are a plus. But success will ultimately depend on your leadership and communication skills, how you manage all aspects of your business, and your willingness and ability to put true passion and drive into achieving your goals.

How much can I earn?

  1. Retail Build Program: Our Retail program is for capitalized entrepreneurs seeking a start-up opportunity. It offers financial support opportunities to help you grow. Minimum investable assets required are $50,000.

  2. Agency Acquisitions Buy Program: Our Agency Acquisitions program offers lucrative financial incentives to capitalized external candidates who purchase service and commission rights from existing Farmers agencies. Minimum investable assets required are $50,000 in addition to the cost of acquisition.

  3. Seed Program: The Seed Program gives an eligible candidate the opportunity to establish a Farmers agency with the added benefit of being assigned service and commission rights on existing business.

How long can it take to complete offered training?

The training program varies depending on the agency program you enter. If you are an experienced insurance professional, it can take as little as seven weeks to complete training. Throughout this time, you’ll have an experienced Farmers® representative to help you through the process. And while you are training, you generally can still keep your current job.
